About the role As the lead software engineer in the Water, Infra & Energy unit, you will be the technical leader driving automation projects essential for the functioning of the Netherlands. You will manage a team of control engineers, oversee the technical direction, and establish standards for PLC and SCADA software within critical infrastructure. From initial design through to commissioning, you will maintain a clear focus on both the big picture and the finer details. You will create architectures, guide engineers, and provide advice to clients.

What you'll do
- Direct and support a team of control engineers in the execution of automation projects.
- Ensure adherence to technical standards for PLC and SCADA software in critical infrastructure.
- Develop and define software architectures that meet project requirements.
- Supervise the design, implementation, and testing phases of projects.
- Collaborate with clients to provide expert advice and solutions tailored to their needs.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in software engineering, specifically in the field of automation.
- Proficiency in PLC and SCADA systems.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing a technical team.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Nice to have
- Familiarity with industrial communication protocols.
- Experience in the Water, Infra, or Energy sectors.
- Knowledge of cybersecurity measures in industrial environments.
Skills & tools
- Proficient in programming languages such as C#, Python, or similar.
- Experience with software development tools and methodologies.
